רגע ראשון

It was the day after October 7 and I had only lived in Israel for a year. I remember being so anxious to leave the house but as I know now Israelis are resilient. We drove down the street to drop off some extra canned goods we had in the house and I was shocked at the shear amount of stuff people had donated. Multiple houses stuffed to the brim with donations communities organizing help for mom with husbands in the army. I distinctly remember that day feeling proud as if I was part of something that mattered . I was and still am proud at how strong our people are.

During the first 7 months of the war I was able to volunteer multiple times. Before we went back to school I volunteered at Leket an organization that takes unwanted produce and gives it to people in need. There were so many people there that at one time they stopped accepting people I remember hearing so many languages and being in awe at how special this moment was. I also helped Miluim moms with babysitting and baked Challahs every week for soldiers and Milium moms. It made me feel a part of something and very grateful that I was someone able to give. My mom and I volunteered in Netanya at a hotel that displaced families were staying at and we were shocked at their strength.
