Philosophical Essay Writing Competition for High School Students 2025

High school students studying philosophy are invited to participate in the Philosophical Essay Writing Competition: Get to know important philosophical ideas, experience philosophical writing, and win prizes.

Let's Begin

Choose one of the following four quotations taken from famous philosophical works. Read them, choose one, and write an essay in response to your chosen quotation.
In the English competition, you may use a dictionary. Other reference materials, except for the quotations on this page, are not allowed.
Submit your essay through the submission form. Write your essay in a separate file and when finished, copy and paste the text in the appropriate place on the website. Essays submitted in other formats will not be accepted.
Accidentally submitted before you finished? No worries. Complete your writing and submit again through the form. We will only consider the last essay you submitted.
The form must be submitted by 14:00. Essays submitted after this time will not participate in the competition.
If you plan to submit your essay to your teacher in order to get extra matriculation points, enter your teacher's email address in the appropriate field in the submission form.
